ISLAMABAD, 24th June, 2017 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, on Saturday brought down the curtain on its Ramadan charity work across Pakistan.

The task was carried out with the assistance of the UAE Embassy in Islamabad and with the direct supervision of Ahmed Salem Malih, Director of the ERC in Islamabad and Kabul. This season's project included food, Eid clothing and Zakat distributions to 171 underprivileged families in the suburbs of Islamabad. Inhabitants of the Khalifa City for victims of natural disasters and disadvantaged families also benefitted from the programme.

The move followed the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow-up by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of the ERC.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency, the Director of the ERC office said that the authority carries out its Ramadan projects annually across Pakistan. The aim is to lend a hand to those in need and spread the humanitarian message of the UAE leadership and people across the world to highlight the country's prestigious image, he added.
