(MENAFN) The UAE travel and tourism sector will offer more than 18.000 new jobs this year, while direct employment in the sector will grow by 2.3 percent from 317.500 jobs in 2016.
Furthermore, indirect jobs will grow by 1.8 percent or 11.100 to 628.500 jobs this year compared to 617.500 jobs in 2016.
Additionally, the sector's contribution to the nation"s GDP will increase by 2.9 percent to USD44.6bn this year, compared to USD43.3bn in 2016.
Meanwhile, Dubai is projected to add 40.000 hotel rooms in the run up to the Expo 2020 event after it achieved the 100.000 room milestone in Oct last year.
