DOHA: Pakistan Women's Association (PWA) Qatar has marked another success with organizing fourth edition of 'cookery contest and has won praises from many Pakistani community members.
PWA cookery contest recently took place at Doha Marriott Hotel, starting with recitation of the Holy Quran followed by welcome speech of Rahat Mansoor, PWA president in which she thanked all the contestants, participants, judges and the sponsors & partners.
There were 12 contestants who participated in the cookery contest to prepare the best Pakistani dishes. The contestants were monitored and judged by chef Gulzar (Pakistan's leading chef) and Zia Rafee (Kolachi Restaurant), Rizwana Abdul Sattar (Pistachio's Restaurant), Abida Irfan. Commodore Irfan Taj, Defense Attache, Embassy of Pakistan was the chief guest of the event.
Saba Mudassir took the first prize, Lubna Jabeen got second prize while Tabasum Naseem got the third prize. Maria Amir, Nayyar Sultana, Roma Akram, Najma Rafiq, Sawlena Naz, Shahida Atiq, Shabana Shoaid & Huma were among the other contestants.
'It was a difficult decision to choose winners from 12 contestants, as each contestant has done remarkable job with their delicate work in preparing dishes using innovation, said chef Gulzar.
Chef Gulzar made his mark amongst the audience for his skills in cooking Pakistani dishes and easy-to-make cuisine varieties followed by a question-and-answer session. In addition, there was also a quiz competition with lots of attractive prizes that gave more excitement to the event.
'We are really pleased with chef Gulzar who accepted our invitation to come to Qatar. His visit to Qatar has given PWA an honour. The step is also being commended by many community members, said Rahat Mansoor, adding: 'Chef Gulzar is considered as one of the famous and successful chefs in Pakistan. Being an all-rounder in all cuisines, chef Gulzar has made his recognition all over world having live shows in 42 countries. We are proud to have names like chef Gulzar with us.
