Numbers of Tourists Visiting Morocco on the Rise

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat - While many markets are struggling to hit their tourism goals, it seems as though Morocco is knocking their goals out of the water by welcoming a record amount of tourists in 2016.

What's even more exciting is that in March, Morocco saw numbers that were 3.7% higher than at the same time last year, which was a record-breaking year.

The stats, which have just been released by the Moroccan government, are painting a clear picture that Morocco's tourism is a force to be reckoned with.

How Big is the Moroccan Tourism Industry?

The tourism sector makes up about 10% of Morocco's national income, which is a sizable amount. During the year 2016, the record number of visitors topped out at 10.4 million, which is obviously setting the pace for a very promising trend.

Of course, the PR community is paying close attention to these latest trends, and looking at what it means for the future. Experts believe that due to the increase in popularity of Muslims traveling during the fasting period, it will be the region of the Middle East that becomes the most popular by 2023.

The MasterCard Crescent Rating Ramadan Travel Report 2016 showed strong indicators and backed this trend up. The study took a look at 50 different locations all around the world and how they performed during the fasting period. The study focused on three main areas, which were Global Muslim Travel Index 2016 scores, fasting duration, and the average daytime temperature. The trends were analyzed for the next 15 years.

Statistics showed that by 2023 with Ramadan taking place in the cooler months, Morocco would pull into the lead as far as destinations go.

Promising Industries to Enter

Not only is this information interesting for Morocco but it's helping to create trends in various industries. The tourism industry should look to see a period of growth as numbers continue to increase. At the same time, those in public relations now have a very robust industry to practice their craft in. Between government, hotels, and attractions, suddenly the need for knowledgeable and skilled PR reps that can function on a global scale becomes necessary.

For those overseas, such as in America, it's an ideal time to consider a public relations masters and use it to work overseas. Thanks to the availability of the online public relations degree program from various schools, it's also possible to study abroad too. The public relations industry is one that is going through significant changes itself with a focus on a digital presence. It's all about brand storytelling, something that works exceptionally well in the tourism industry.

Positioning Itself Strongly

While some countries are floundering where tourism is concerned, Morocco seems to be well on its way to positioning itself strongly, with goals to take over the lead position when it comes to the top destinations in the Middle East.
