The countries besieging Qatar will present a list of demands in the next few days through Kuwait, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said in statements carried by Anatolia Agency.

The list will include Saudi, Emirati, Bahraini and Egyptian demands, Kalin said, adding that Ankara will follow up on the matter.

He added that the role that Saudi Arabia will play in lessening the severity of the dispute with Qatar and solving it through peaceful means is important.

Kalin said the Turkish president touched on the issue while speaking by phone to the Saudi King and Crown Prince, adding that Turkey demonstrated a constructive stance towards the issue of Qatar and said Ankara will take the necessary steps when delegated to carry out a task.

The Turkish spokesman highlighted the constructive role of Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, noting that Kuwait is a respected country among GCC states and plays an important role in mediation.

Kalin said Turkey is also backing the current settlement initiatives, adding that Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states are all neighbours and important allies of Turkey.
He said that Turkey doesn't want any tension with any Gulf country and neither wants any disputes among Gulf states, stressing that the intensive communications of the Turkish president since the dispute started help in overcoming it.

As for the joint defence agreement between Qatar and Turkey, Kalin said it isn't a new but was signed in 2016, stressing that the Turkish base in Qatar poses no threat for a third country in the region but rather is aimed at the security of the whole Gulf region.

He expressed surprise over the discomfort of some parties that he didn't name over the Turkish base, saying that several countries have bases in Gulf countries.
