South Morocco: Four Men Arrested for Gunpowder Plot


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – Four Moroccan men have been arrested in Imintanoute in southern Morocco for putting an "enormous" amount of gunpowder in a tractor used by a farmer in nearby Chichaoua.

According to Moroccan daily newspaper, Al-Massae, the farmer found a quantity of gunpowder inside his tractor after receiving a phone call from an unknown person, warning him against riding the tractor.

The newspaper reported that the farmer filed a complaint to Marrakech's public prosecutor, who has since ordered a "secret" investigation to ascertain the perpetrators' motive.

Imintanout's security officers managed to identify the caller by returning to the calls received by the farmer's phone. The caller was one of the four suspects.

The newspaper added that local law enforcement agents have apprehendedall suspects.

One of the arrested suspects revealed to security officers where he bought the gunpowder. The vendor was found to have sold the product illegally, without holding the appropriate license, and was arrested.

Al-Massae added that all suspects will appear before a judge in Marrakech's Appeal Court.
