Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has launched two fast track career development programmes for Qatari fresh graduates. The programmes are supported by the mobile application that QIB launched last year for training nationals. This pioneering initiative works towards identifying local talents and equipping them with a fast track learning journey to accelerate their career path.
The mobile application provides a holistic feedback on each programmes participant initially facilitating the identification of where they would best fit within the Banking system. Upon commencement of the training, QIB's mobile application accompanies and supports the participants as they steer through the different modules of the programmes.
A key priority of Qatar's National Vision 2030 is to invest in people by providing them with high quality educational and training opportunities appropriate to their abilities and aspirations. Accordingly, QIB's Board of Directors and Executive management is aligning its Business and Human Resource strategies to contribute in the process of creating a new generation of financial experts who will further evolve Qatar's banking system. The programs will also strengthen QIB's pipeline of talented Qatari professionals by developing their skills and establishing effective succession planning within the Bank.
'QIB is proud to play an important role in attracting talented Qatari nationals to the banking and financial sectors. During the last years, we have made important achievements in raising Qatarization rates and we will continue to do so in the coming period, said Khalefa Al Mesalam, Head of Human Capital Group at QIB. 'We aim not only to attract top talents but also to work on further developing their skills and knowledge base.
The ‘Management Associate Program' is a 12-month fast track development program for fresh University graduates. The program will nurture banking operations and management capabilities, as well as provide an in-depth understanding of concepts within the Islamic banking industry. It will enable the graduates to acquire the required knowledge and proficiency for a future career within banking.
The ‘Future Banker Program' is an 18-month intensive programmes for high school and diploma graduates through customised career planning as well as development opportunities tailored to each participant's individual strengths.
The two programmes' curriculums include areas such as Principles of Islamic Banking, Anti-Money Laundry & Compliance, Islamic Banking Products & Services, Banking Operations and the role of each QIB Department and Function. Lectures are supported by on-the-job training and mentoring sessions. The participants will get further classroom training by different specialised institutions which partner with QIB.
