Tribal News Network (TNN), a local radio news agency, is offering an internship opportunity for graduate students who intend to make a career in Journalism. This opportunity is now open for interested candidates.
TNN will provide college and university students the opportunity to gain practical on-the-job experience by working as a journalist intern. The purpose of the journalism internship is to help train a new generation of radio journalists. During the internship period, interns will get rigorous, hands-on training in radio news journalism, both on-air and online, including writing, reporting, producing and editing.
Responsibilities
Interns will work six hours a day at the main TNN office in Peshawar. They will work alongside TNN reporters and editors to deliver prompt, accurate and balanced news reports on the most important events happening in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. Interns will be expected to generate their own story ideas appropriate for radio and online news bulletins and follow their stories through to completion, supervised by a TNN editor. They might also assist reporters and editors in researching stories and other assignments.
Requirements
Interns should be self-starters who understand the needs of TNN's growing audience on radio and online platforms. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in news as well as the ability to work independently and under deadline pressure. Fluency in written and spoken Pashtu is essential as TNN broadcasts only in Pashtu.
Payment and duration
Interns will be paid a monthly internship fee. Three-month internship will start on July 11, 2017 and end on October 10, 2017.
