The Asgiriya Chapter today demanded an end to attempts to silence Buddhist monks who question politicians.
The Registrar of the Asgiriya Chapter, the Venerable Dr. Medagama Dhammananda Thero, reading a statement on behalf of the Asgiriya Chapter, said that Buddhist monks have always fought to protect the country.
The Asgiriya Chapter said that while it does not condone the behavior of the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), the Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, his concerns should not be disregarded.
The Asgiriya Chapter also condemned attempts to bring disrepute to Buddhist monks through statements made at press conferences. (Colombo Gazette)
