(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino tourist is expected to appear in West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday after he was charge with possession of firearms and ammunition without a license on Monday.
Police arrested and charged a 55-year-old Filipino with possession of firearms and ammunition without a license on Monday at Hong Kong International Airport, Apple Daily reported. Airport security guards found a 17cm-long stun gun in the luggage of a passenger at 1am.
In a separate incident, a 44-year-old Thai man was arrested after police officers intercepted and searched him at the junction of Lok Shan Road and To Kwa Wan Road. Officers arrested him for possession of firearms and ammunition without a license after they found an arc lighter, which can create a high-voltage electricity as strong as a stun gun, Oriental Daily reported.
Under the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance, any portable device which is designed or can be adapted to stun or disable a person by means of an electric shock is defined as a weapon. The maximum penalty for possession of firearms and ammunition without a license is a HK$100,000 (US$12,822) and a 14-year jail term.
