(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr met with the director of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), David Gallipio, to discuss Gallipio's arrangements for Nasr's participation in the meeting of the Consultative Council of the United Nations Fund for Social Impact after becoming the first woman to join.

The meeting took place in the presence of director of the UN Development Program in Cairo, Randa Abulhassan.

The two parties discussed enhancing cooperation in the field of investment support and the business environment in order to achieve Egypt's development goals and objectives of sustainable development, as well as the necessary measures needed to cooperate in setting up an investment support fund with development dimensions in the country to encourage entrepreneurship.

They also discussed arrangements for the participation of the minister in the meetings of the high-level consultative council of the United Nations Fund for Social Impact, as she was recently chosen to be the first woman to join the Council and the first Egyptian and African as a result of its development efforts. The council was established in November 2016 in order to support sustainable development goals, support the private sector, and provide funding to support investors and entrepreneurs.

The minister stressed that she will work during her membership in the Council on the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and empower women economically.

The meeting focused on encouraging development investment in Egypt as an important means to achieve the highest utilisation of investment in addition to cooperation in a number of current fields, especially capacity building and technical support, and contribute to development projects in Egypt.

Gallipio said that the United Nations has confidence that this initiative will contribute to enhancing the role of the private sector in development in Egypt, noting that the United Nations Development Program will provide advisory services to emerging companies that will benefit from the United Nations Fund for Social Impact.
