Pakistan- No high school for girls and boys in entire Ambar tehsil

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) GHALANAI, 01 June: Hundreds of girl and boy students of Ambar tehsil of Lower Mohmand Agency are forced to say goodbye to education after passing middle school examinations as there is no high school for them in the area.
According to education department around 60 % students passed their 8th class in 2017 and majority of them stopped to continue further education as there is high school in Ambar tehsil that borders Bajaur Agency.
Shah Mehmood a local resident of the area said that some students were migrated to Bajaur and Peshawar for their education while others from poor families were compelled to leave their schools.
He added that the nearest boys' high school to Ambar area is at a distance of about 15 kilometers in Danish Kool area of Pandaili tehsil which has made many students quit their education.
'There are about 250 girl students in the middle school kotatraf who are taught by a single teacher in a building with no furniture for teachers and students, he said while describing the poor schooling environment.
Nisar Ullah, a student of 8th class told TNN that he wanted to get admission in the 9th class after passing his middle exam, however, due to lack of a high school in the entire Ambar tehsil, he gave up the idea.
There are three boys' middle schools in the tehsil but they are too without sufficient teaching staff and others basic facilities.
Another local resident Bach khan said they wanted their young generation to get quality education for which the government need to set up high schools in Amabr tehsil. He raised the question that since three high schools' were built in the tehsil years ago, then why the government was reluctant to appoint teaching staff there'
When approached, Assistant Agency Education Officer Javed Khan admitted that buildings of three high schools were constructed eight years ago in localities of Khari Darra, Bakhmal Shah and Musa Kore, whereas staff was yet to be sanctioned for these schools which has forced many students of Ambar tehsil to stop their education beyond middle level.
'The lack of teaching staff in middle school for girls in Kota taraf is negatively affecting the education of the students as the school has one teacher while the rest of vacant seats are yet to be filled' told the education officer.
The local residents and students demanded of the Governor KP and PA Mohmand to sanction teaching posts for the three non-functional high schools in Ambar tehsil that the students continue their high education without any barrier.
