(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Uttaranchal Wing of Indian Social Club (ISC) Oman showcased its traditional cuisine at a cookery show for its 100+ members based in Muscat, Ibri and Nizwa recently at Al Guroor Farmhouse Seeb.
More than 30 different traditional dishes were prepared not only by enthusiastic food-loving lady members but also by some male members of the wing. Some of the dishes exhibited werechaisu;jhangora kheer;aloo gutuk;gatte ki sabzi;rajma (chemi);pahadi chicken;daal bade, bhangjeer ki chutney; pahadi mutton; jholi; maas ki daal ke bade and aam tok; palhar; kode ki puri and kafal curry.
Each participant clearly explained the concept behind the preparation of the dish to thunderous applause by all members. The aroma and taste of the traditional cuisine had the effect of transporting all those present to the hills of Uttarakhand.
Govind Negi, convener of the Uttaranchal Wing, Oman thanked Ruchika Sharma, lady coordinator of the wing and project leader of the event for ensuring an enthusiastic response in such a hot weather.
Apart from the cooking event, Ruchika also conducted games wherein participants were blindfolded and they had to correctly guess the ingredients.
Negi also conducted an interesting food-related quiz and thanked the sponsors who contributed with generous gifts.
In the end, all the participants of the cookery show as well as the winners of the quiz and games were felicitated by co-convener of the wing, Shiv Bahaguna.
Uttaranchal Wing Oman has been carrying out various events of interest for the community over the past 12 years of their existence as a wing of ISC.
Some of these events include holi festival, in-house cultural programme, yoga day, trekking, diwali night and mega musical night.
