Spokesman: EU, Turkey to continue to coop.

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, May 29 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) and Turkey should continue to work together, European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said on Monday.

The remark came following recent meetings held by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Brussels with President of the European Council Donald Tusk and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.

"What we can say as a result of these meetings is that the EU and Turkey must and will continue to cooperate," Schinas told a news conference Monday.

"These meeting were an important occasion to reiterate this principle and to discuss major issues of common interest in detail", said the EU spokesperson and added "that both meetings were very positive and very good and in constructive atmosphere." Erdogan was in Brussels to attend a NATO summit on 25 May. (end) nk.mt
