ROP and Oman LNG introduce novel driving simulators

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Royal Oman Police (ROP) and Oman LNG inaugurated three state-of-the-art driving simulators at the Traffic Safety Institute in Muscat.

The driving simulators enhance the road safety training experience provided through ROP's extensive training programmes to ensure the participants receive top-of-the-line practical training and learning experience. The simulators re-enact real-life traffic scenarios including the impact during collisions and other road accidents, stated a press release.

The problems surrounding road safety have been a national preoccupation, and were prominent among the issues raised by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in Sohar during his 2009 meet-the-people tour. Road safety, His Majesty the Sultan advised, is a joint responsibility of the government, private sector and the individual if the country is to see an end to reckless driving and its resultant alarming number of road accidents.

The inauguration enhances provisions to improve road safety and is very much aligned with Oman LNG's many CSR initiatives to promote safety.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Brig Gen Mohammed bin Awadh al Rawas, director general of Traffic, and Hilal bin Ali al Sinani, general manager of CSR at Oman LNG Development Foundation.

'Today's inauguration signifies the translation of His Majesty the Sultan's vision for road safety improvements. We are blessed, through the strong partnership with the Royal Oman Police, to be able to contribute to the country's safety infrastructure with cutting-edge equipment and training,' said Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah al Massan, CEO, Oman LNG Development Foundation.
