(MENAFNEditorial) Help Mona Relief to feed 1000 families in Ramadan Mona Relief is one of the only 100% Yemeni driven Humanitarian Organisations in Yemen. After 2 years of complete destruction of Yemen; some of us are still alive. The month of Ramadan is coming, where Yemen will have it hard to break the fast with no food and limited water. Mona Relief, a 100% Yemeni Organisation based in Yemen took the initiative with this campaign. With as simple as 25USD, you are able to feed a family with wheat, rice, sugar, cooking oil and dates - for a whole month!
The Project
Twitter Brought friends together, friends who had either experienced or seen poverty first hand to discuss about the situation in Yemen, the most impoverished country in the Middle East with 90% of their food being imported.
With a single intent and single goal, and idea was born. An idea to somehow go around the current Blockade on Yemen and help people who are displaced by war.
In 2015 we started the #20foryemen campaign on Twitter and later on Indiegogowhich rasied over $3000. We fullfilled our goal even and distributed every single supply we bought from the raised money.
In 2016 we started another campaign, this time which gained over £20.000.

25$ can help a family for a month
By giving a simple amount of only 20$ you are helping a whole family for one month! For each 25$ donated we can supply the following for a family for a month:
25 kg wheat
5 kg rice
5 kg sugar
2L cookingoil
2kg dates
Every penny counts. Giving 25$, 250$ or even 2$- the more we are that donates - the closer we get to the goal.
Since we started in 2015 almost a 100 distribution projects has been completed and over 30.000 families fed - thats almost 7 million meals. We believe that in spite of the heavy shelling, no one deserves to die hungry or thirsty.
We have distributes to the cities and governorates of Sana'a, Hodeidah, Hajjeh , Marib , Dhamar , Amran , Mahweet and Amant al-Asimah.

The Money You Donate
Every penny we receive from the donors goes to buy food for Internally displaced families. To give you a calculation. One of our first food distributions: we bought 149 bags each one contained: 25 Kg wheat, 5 kg sugar, 5 kg rice and 2L of cooking oil. The total price was 845820 YR which is equal to 2500$.
Transport costs from Sanaa (Capital of Yemen) to Harf Safyan (The Area where the food was given) costed 62000 YR which is equal to 180$.
Ramadan 2017 in Yemen
Ramadan will begin in the end of May 2017, and will last 30 days. Sadly, this is the third Ramadan where yemen is in war.
Everyone is talking about Syria, but have completely forgotten what is happening to Yemen till this day. We have solidarity with our Syrian friends, but the world seem to have forgot Yemen. We are bombarded on daily basis by airstrikes, and the international community is silent.
Yemen will enter this Ramadan hungry, but with your help, some families can enjoy the taste of your donation.

There are only two ways to live a pleasant life, either in someone's heart or in someone's prayer. In this case you get both!
What Is Happening to Yemen?
Saudi Arabia together with a coalition of nine Arab states, began carrying out in-discriminant airstrikes in Yemen on 25 March 2015 and at the same time a blockade was placed on Yemen so at the moment nothing can go in, not even basic supplies!
• At least one child dies every 10 minutes in Yemen because of preventable diseases such as diarrhea, malnutrition and respiratory tract infections (UNICEF, December 2016)
• 14 million people are food insecure, including more than 7 million don't know where their next meal will come from ( UNOCHA, December 2016)
• More than 2 million children in Yemen are acutely malnourished and require urgent care, including more than least 460,000 suffering from severe acute malnutrition — an increase of almost 200% since 2014
• 2.2 million people have been displaced during the con ict (UNHCR, December 2016)
• Only 45% of health care facilities are partially or fully functioning (UNOCHA, December 2016)
