Ghazni: Helicopters spotted landing in Taliban areas


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Public representatives on Sunday claimed unknown aircrafts had been spotted landing in areas under Taliban€™s control in Waghaz and Khogyani districts of central Ghazni province.

Ghazni provincial council secretary, Hassan Raza Yousufi, told Pajhowk Afghan News that the helicopters had been seen for three nights landing in some areas of Waghaz and Khogyano districts.

He added: €œPeople have seen and reported to us about the landing of helicopters and giving materials to Taliban€. He urged the authorities concerned to investigate the issue.

Some residents of these districts also confirmed the issue. Local resident Mohammad Qadar told Pajhwok Afghan News. €œA helicopters came, landed and Taliban gathered around it. I don€™t have more information and I don€™t know the relationship between Taliban and aircraft.€

Ghazni Governor Abdul Karim Mateen said he had heard the issue from people. €œPeople told us aircrafts land in Taliban controlling areas. We don€™t have documents or pictures of the scene€. The matter has been shared with the central government in Kabul, Mateen added.

Ghazni police chief Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhail also confirmed hearing about the issue.

There has been no word from the Taliban about the landing of the unknown helicopters.

Few days ago, a helicopter landed in an area controlled by Taliban in northern Sar-i-Pul province.
