Samsung to start selling Galaxy S8 in Japan in June


(MENAFN) Samsung Electronics is intending to release Galaxy S8 flagship in Japan next month, working to revive its reputations in the smartphones market after its scandal in Galaxy Note 7 and to increase its presence in Asia's markets which are dominated by competitor Apple.

The tech giant will have a series of promotion events in Japan for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, while the devices had already went on sale in S. Korea, China and the US.

During Q1, the S. Korean giant had sold around 300,000 smartphones in Japan to account for 3.8% of the market share.

While in 2012, its presence in Japanese market was at 14.8%, and then it started to lose control in the face of growing Apple, whose market share topped 50%.
