Kuwait- G7 summit resumes with focus on partnership with Africa


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME, May 27 (KUNA) -- Leaders of the seven industrialized countries (G7) resumed their summit talks on Saturday with emphasis on economic development and partnership with Africa.

Leaders of Tunisia, Nigeria, the Niger, Ethiopia, Kenya, chiefs of the African Union, the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund joined the meeting.

Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni indicated in the opening statement that the summiteers were placing Africa among their top priorities.

Talks with the African leaders today will focus on prospected partnership in in various spheres with aim of boosting innovation and human resources, he said.

The G-20 summit due to be held in Germany would also place higher attention to development in Africa, the premier said.

The leaders of Italy, the US, France, Germany, Britain, Japan and Canada have discussed a host of global issues.

The summit, themed 'building the foundations of renewed trust,' will focused on three topics, namely the citizen safety; economic, environmental and social sustainability and reduction of inequalities; and innovation, skills and labor in the age of the next production revolution. (end) mn.rk
