BERLIN, 27th May, 2017 (WAM) -- Ali Abdullah Al-Ahmad, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, has hosted, at his residence in Berlin, a meeting with Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, as well as Arab and Islamic Ambassadors in Germany.

The UAE Embassy organised the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the visit of Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah who was attending a conference in Germany. The conference was organised at the request of Sigmar Gabriel, German Minister of Foreign Affairs, between 21st and 23rd May.

Al-Ahmad indicated that the forum aimed to shed light on how to communicate, exchange ideas and viewpoints, and listen to the advice and guidance of Sheikh bin Bayyah, as well as how to use them in diplomatic work to play a more active role in the issues related to Islam. It also aimed to break the stereotypes circulating around Europe about Islam and Muslims, in an era where the image of the true Islam has often been distorted by the practices of a few terrorists.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah delivered a speech on the integrated efforts of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, which is a non-governmental institution that aims to spread the culture of tolerance and correct the concepts that were applied to their genuine goals or meaning.

He also spoke about several initiatives launched by the forum to find peaceful outcomes for the challenges facing Muslim societies and to strengthen the values of co-existence and uphold the values of dialogue and tolerance.
