About this project T H E H E A R T O F M A V E N M A R K E T.

Our intent is to curate thoughtful, intentional, luxe gift boxes that include a wide range of high-quality handmade products made by local artists and artisans. These boxes celebrate creative expression and community while supporting small businesses! In addition to having several themed boxes, we will offer the option of a bespokebox, allowing the customer to customize their gift boxes by choosing the items themselves. Maven Market will also be partnering with a Sacramento floral designer, Oak + Ash, to offer floral arrangements with Sacramento gift box orders. We love community and collaboration we're excited about this! We truly want this company to go beyond itself as we plan to donate a percentage of all sales to a local charity or need. As mentioned in the video, this is,above all, to honor our daughter Norah's legacy as we remember the outpour of love and support we received from our friends and family. Some of the most thoughtful gifts helped us get through an incredibly dark time.

Your generosity goes toward:

+ Stock. This is obviously the most important (and expensive!) part of this process. We need the boxes themselves as well as the products from all of our makers! Most of these makers have a minimum purchase of $200-$500 and that definitely adds up quickly since we are working with so many of them!

+ Packaging material and other office supplies, such as shelving and a postage meter.

+ Kickstarter fees. While crowd-funding has its obvious benefits, Kickstarter will take about 10% of the $15,000 we raise.

+ Fulfilling incentives. 🙂 We want to bless you in return for your love and support.

+ Honoring our daughter Norah's legacy. Her fifteen minutes in this world had an incredible impact on our lives and we believe that remembering her life, and death, is the motivation for us to make this business a success.

Risks and challenges

We have tirelessly worked day after day curating these boxes, chatting with vendors, running numbers…all of it. To be honest, $15,000 is quite literally the minimum we feel comfortable asking for. We are hoping that with the enthusiasm we've received that we'll exceed our goal in order to curate even more boxes, because we have so many great ideas!

T H E G O O D N E W S

All of the boxes we are offering have been fully curated already. We've brought these ideas to life and have gotten approval from all of our vendors and have become part of their stockist families! They believe in our company even though it's not established quite yet. What a feeling! All we need to do next is place our orders.

T H E R I S K S

Because these are handmade items, the vendors may need more time to fulfill demand. We can look at this as a positive for business, however, giving customers a sense of urgency as the amount of boxes could be limited each month.

As you already know, the number one risk is that if we do not meet our financial goal in 30 days, Maven Market Box cannot happen. Asking for money is not comfortable, but we believe in community and this project, and we want you to be part of Norah's legacy.
