(MENAFNEditorial) PS/IS 180 THIRD ANNUAL JOGATHON
THE STORY:
Help us make tracks with our 3rd Annual PS/IS 180 Jogathon!
PS/IS 180 is a very diverse elementary and middle school in Harlem that embraces all of the students in the community and provides an enriched education that includes arts, sports and health, with a mission of hands-on STEM-based learning. While PS/IS 180 has received federal Title 1 funding in the past, those allocations are quickly declining, and the school community must find other ways to continue funding its numerous enrichment programs that enhance students' learning.
Currently, students participate in the Asphalt Green Recess Enrichment Program, Asphalt Green 2nd grade swimming, Roads to Success afterschool, Studio In A School, Midori and Friends instrumental music program, Carnegie Hall's Musical Explorers, Middle School Ballroom Dancing, Ballet Hispanico, Chess in the Schools, Spanish Dual Language, Jaguar Debate Team, Lacrosse, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Softball teams. Students also have access to dental hygiene and health clinics in the school.
Our future funding goals for the school include in-school dance and art teachers and key STEM-based initiatives: a Hydroponics Lab, Maker's Space, iPads, and Chrome books.
Last year we raised over $7,000 to support programming in the school. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000.
