Kuwait- Coalition jets reportedly raid town in eastern Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, May 26 (KUNA) - Air strikes reportedly carried out by the international Coalition aircraft left 35 people dead in Al-Mayadeen town in eastern Syria, according to reports by the official Syrian media and the opposition.

Official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said on Friday that 35 people, mostly children and women, were killed and scores others were wounded in the Coalition air raids late on Thursday on Al-Mayadeen, 45 kms southeast of Deir Al-Zor.

The warplanes hit a market and a four-storey building which was directly hit and collapsed, SANA said.

The Syrian Monitor for Human Rights, tongue of the opposition, released an identical report but did not say whether the air attacks were carried out by the Coalition warplanes.

It quoted local residents as saying the building hit in the attacks was occupied by Syrians and Moroccans, including fighters in the so-called Islamic State. (end) tk.rk
