UAE- FNC passes two draft laws, tables six questions to government representatives

ABU DHABI, 29th March, 2016 (WAM) -- The Federal National Council, FNC, on Tuesday held the15th session of its 16th legislative chapter, which was presided over by its Speaker Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi.

During the session, the council passed two draft laws pertaining to the amendment to Federal Law No. 7 for 2008 on the national archive and Federal Decree Law No. 6 for 2007 on the establishment of the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology, NCMS.

The session was attended by Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.

The FNC members tabled six questions before the government representatives. Four of the questions were directed to H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. They were related to determining the axial load of vehicles, the use of private vehicles to transport passengers for a fee, regulations for motorcycle rental and child passenger safety in motor vehicles.

The other two questions were directed to Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, on the ministry's plans to spread awareness among teenagers, and to Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State for FNC Affairs, on regulating the trademarks operating within the telecommunications sector.

In her speech, Dr. Al Qubaisi welcomed members of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Standing Committee on Staff and Financial Regulations, who are holding their second meeting in the UAE. She also welcomed members of the Health and Environment Committee at the Jordanian Senate, who are visiting the UAE.

She underlined the sacrifices made by the UAE servicemen participating in the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to defend legitimacy in Yemen and offered condolences to the family of martyr Hassan Abdullah Mohammed Al Bishr.
