Jordan- King discusses cooperation, regional issues with US permanent envoy to UN


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 22 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday received United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nikki Haley and discussed with her cooperation and strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States as well as current regional developments.

The meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace also focused on the pressure placed by the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan's economy and its limited resources, highlighting the importance of increasing international support to the Kingdom to enable it to continue its services to the refugees.

On Syria, the King and the US official reviewed efforts to arrive at a political solution to the Syrian crisis through the Geneva track.

Haley voiced appreciation of efforts exerted by Jordan to host Syrian refugees and provide educational and health services to them.

The meeting was attended by the Royal Court chief, the minister of foreign and expatriates affairs and the director of the King's office.
