(MENAFN- Gulf Times) GAC Motor is looking to ramp up their presence in Qatar and this was confirmed with the launch of two of their latest models GS8 and GA8 in Doha yesterday.
Doha Marketing Services Company (Domasco), the distributor for GAC Motor in Qatar, unveiled the seven-seater SUV GS8 and the luxury sedan GA8 at a gala event held at the St. Regis Doha.
Domasco has recently launched the popular GS4 and now with the introduction of these two models, GAC Motor now has a wide variety of models, in different segments on offer for this market.
'The GS8 and GA8 are a result of years of research and development from GAC Motor and combines state-of-the-art technology and innovation. With the launch of these two models, we are now able to offer customers an even wider choice from GAC, said Domasco managing director Faisal Sharif during the launch yesterday.
Sharif also informed that nine new models of GAC Motor will be launched this year with the aim to increase its reach in Qatar.
The GS8 is a luxury seven-seater SUV that is powered by a 2-litre turbo engine that produces close to 201hp of power and 300Nm of torque. It comes coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox. It has a four-wheel drive system with six driving modes. The GS8 is loaded with luxury features like Nappa leather seats and a Harmon Kardon sound system. Other features include automatic tailgate opening and driving assistance systems like emergency braking and lane departure warning.
The stylish GA8 sedan will be one of the two flagship models along with the GS8. The GA8 has the same powertrain as the GS8 and will have the same extensive host of luxury and safety features as in the GS8, which includes three-zone A/C system and a double auxiliary system that will display real time images of blind spots during lane changes.
The sedan features an all-around intelligent driving assistance system that can navigate, raise collision alerts and actively assist in braking. A 360-degree panorama visual imaging system makes driving the GA8 much safer and easier.
The event was attended by Chinese ambassador Li Chen, GAC Motor deputy general manager Wang Shunsheng, international business department director Liu Haoyuan, GAC Qatar sales and marketing manager Mohamed Majeed and other senior management from Domasco.
