Jordan- Crown Prince opens park near Dead Sea

Dead Sea, May 20 (Petra) –– His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein opened the first phase of the Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II Park in Sweimeh near the Dead Sea tourist sites, part of the Royal Initiative projects.

The crown prince toured the facilities of the park, carried out by the Ministry of Public Works on a 240-dunum area, which aims to organize tourism in the region, ease traffic congestion and reduce accidents on the main road to the Dead Sea and protect the environment.

During the ceremony, Minister of Public Works Sami Halasah gave a briefing about the two-phase project, launched on lands designated for the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group.

The park was built according to up-to-date international standards and includes 500 shaded family spaces with benches, barbecue and play areas for children of all ages, a football pitch, a sand volleyball court and horse and camel riding trails.

It also houses parking space that accommodates up to 500 cars, kiosks as well as administrative premises and sanitary facilities.

The park, which will be open to the public starting today, is managed by the Greater Amman Municipality in cooperation with the Public Security Department, which will have the task of tourist and environmental safety.
