Pakistan- PHC asks Peshawar hospitals to ensure proper waste management


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 19 May: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed hospitals of Peshawar to make arrangements for proper disposal of hospital waste material.

A lawyer of Peshawar, Saifullah Mohib Kakakhel had filed a petition in the PHC that there are no proper arrangements for disposal of used medical equipment and medicines in the major hospitals of Peshawar, which may cause spread of diseases among other people.

The Health Department official Muhammad Ayub told the court that Khyber Teaching Hospital and Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) have proper waste management system, while this system is lacking in other hospitals.

The court in its order directed Environment Department Director General Bashir Khan to conduct a detailed monitoring about waste management at hospitals and submit a report in this regard within a month.
