UAE- EPAA to unveil details of 18th edition of Sir Bu Nuair Festival

SHARJAH, 6th May, 2017 (WAM) -- The Environment and Protected Areas Authority, EPAA, will soon unveil details of the 18th edition of the Sir Bu Nair Festival, which will start from next Thursday in Sharjah.

The festival, organised annually by the EPAA, aims to highlight Sharjah's efforts in maintaining the legacy of the emirate's environmental and cultural heritage. It also serves to underline the environmental, tourist and heritage importance of Sir Bu Nair, as well as raise awareness among visitors of the need to abide by regulations related to preserving ecosystems and motivate them to maintain biological diversity.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, affirmed that Sir Bu Nair Festival, supported by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has become an important event for heritage and tourist activities held in the emirate in order to shed light on the rich heritage, attractive nature and destinations that are worth visiting all the year round. The festival also aims to preserve the emirate's natural resources for future generations, Sheikh Sultan added.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, EPAA, said that the festival, which kicks off on 11th May, is in line with Sharjah's keenness to preserve the natural and biological diversity and consolidate the relationship of successive generations with their environment and heritage, in accordance with the directives of Ruler of Sharjah. She pointed out that the festival's high organising committee, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, has completed its preparations and arrangements for the event.

Tilal Properties, the Sharjah-based real estate developer, and other government and non-government bodies will take part in the organisation of this year's festival.
