1,700 marijuana plants seized in New Territories farm raid

(MENAFN- Asia Times) Hong Kong police seized a total of 1,700 marijuana plants worth HK$40 million (US$5.14 million) and arrested a Vietnamese man in Tai Po in the northern New Territories on Tuesday evening.

At 9.45pm, officers raided a village house in Kau Lung Hang San Wai that was at the center of a marijuana farm, RTHK reported.

A 51-year-old Vietnamese man was arrested for drug possession and officers are looking for the remaining members of the drug ring. Police also confiscated plastic bags, soils and planting tools from the house.

It was the largest amount of drugs discovered in one case over the past decade, the police said. The farm was established to target drug demand in New Territories, officers said.
