(MENAFN) In a visit to bolster ties after months of tension, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a warm welcome from King Salman as he landed Sunday in the kingdom.
State media said Salman, along with high Saudi officials, welcomed Sisi as he stepped off the plane in Riyadh and invited him for lunch.
On the other hand, Sisi announced the visit in a statement on Friday, saying Sisi's trip was in response to an invitation by Salman and was eyeing to boost strategic relations between the two countries.
However, it said that Salman and Sisi would talk about "regional and international issues of common interest".
