(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : Flight Expert, the first full-functional online travel agency of the country featuring Bangla besides English, was launched through a gala function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city on March 1.
Rashed Khan Menon, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, launched the first OTA in presence of Gaurav Bhatnagar, Managing Director, TBO Holidays and travel trade leaders of the country.
Flight Expert, a sister concern of Makkah Group of companies, was earlier founded in 2016. It is run by young professionals led by Salman Bin Rashid Shah Sayeem, Founder and CEO, Flight Expert and Managing Director, Makkah Group
Sayeem said, "Our goal is to unlock all the facilities to air passengers with a fully-dynamic real-time system so that people can easily book flights or hotels from online without even leaving their homes. It is easy for passengers to book their travel as it is available both in Bangla, as well as English."
Based on Amadeus platform, all the billings are being done through BSP, he said, adding "Flight Expert will emphasise more on customer service and reasonable pricing. With Best Price Guarantee (BPG) we are offering less than the GDS' rate."
As an introductory offer, Flight Expert is offering 5 per cent discount on the air ticket booked with City Bank AmEx cards up to March 30. The online travel agency's (OTA's) flight transactions are secure as it is done through the same encrypted software used by banks.
He said the three steps for booking an air ticket are easy: Search (for the best available fare)-Book-Pay. As a B2C organisation, Flight Expert's aim is to attract individual customers to their site in large numbers, but they plan to target the corporate crowd in the days ahead. It is also offering 280 customisable packages over 31 countries.
The organisation has a dedicated Call Centre to provide international assistance, should passengers require them. The centre is available from 10am to 7pm, seven days a week. There is also a dedicated number after 7pm.
The highest traffic (to the call centre) is experienced at noon, he said.
Flight Expert is also the GSA of TBO Holidays and, as a B2B, will offer one-of-a-kind Agents service, delivering 250,000+ Hotels and Transfers available worldwide to the travel agents at exclusive prices.
Responding to a query he said, "Traditional travel agencies will still be there in the future. Make My Trip did not replace traditional travel agencies in India, nor will Flight Expert do so in Bangladesh."
On a personal note, Sayeem said, he chose March 1 as the laucnhing date as it was the birthday of his father, MA Rashid Shah Shamrat, who has been serving the travel trade for about three decades.
