(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, March 28 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) said Tuesday that it is ready to receive the official notification by the UK government on Wednesday to begin the two-year process for the UK to leave the Union.
"We are ready. Barnier is ready. His team is ready. Tomorrow there will be a sequence of events," European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas told a news conference.
Michel Barnier, former French foreign minister and a former EU Commissioner, is the EU's chief Brexit negotiator.
The spokesman noted that President of the European Council Donald Tusk will receive this letter of notification by the UK government of the article 50 of the EU treaty to leave the EU tomorrow.
"I imagine there will be a public reaction on behalf of the 27 EU member states," said Schinas He noted that the EU member states unanimously singed in Rome during the 60 anniversary of the Rome treaty on Saturday a declaration to reaffirm their desire to move forward together.
