Two extremely crucial combat-clothing needs of the Indian Army will be satisfied by Bengaluru companies; bullet-proof jackets (BPJs) and coats for extreme cold climates (coats-ECC) for those posted in Siachen.

In 2016, Tata Advanced Materials Limited bagged a tender for 50,000 BPJs and will provide them by 31st March. Gokaldas Exports is manufacturing 3.03 lakh coats-ECC.

BBMP BBMP could own last floor of buildings that violate laws

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) wants to amend its bylaws and be empowered to take ownership of the ground floor of buildings that haven't stuck to sanctioned plans.

The 2017-18 BBMP budget released on Saturday included this proposal.

According to reports, the rule would apply to every building that has more than five storeys.

This proposal aims at preventing violations.

Karnataka From 1st May, public sector employees will retire at 60

The Karnataka government is putting into action its decision to increase the retirement age of public sector employees from 58 to 60 from 1st May or earlier.

Additional chief secretary of labour Sanjiv Kumar said the decision would benefit at least 45 lakh public sector employees.

IT and bio-technology companies are exempted from this decision, so are companies with under 50 employees.

Railway Foundation work for Bengaluru's suburban train network to start soon

The suburban rail network long demanded by Bengalureans will start being implemented in one or two months.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu announced the same on Sunday while authorizing the Bengaluru-Hassan train service and addressing a crowd at Yeshwantpur Railway Station.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urged the railway minister to start the foundation work for the project as soon as May.
