Maytha Al Shamsi meets with Japanese minister

ABU DHABI, 27th March, 2017 (WAM) -- Dr. Maytha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Adviser to the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, stressed that the UAE and Japan have strong relations and are witnessing further co-operation in various fields, especially the economic sector.

The remarks were made when Dr. Al Shamsi met with the visiting Yosuke Takagi, Japanese State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

She said the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Supreme Council Members, their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, are keen on supporting ties between the two countries.

She also highlighted the role played by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to boost relations between the people of the two countries.

Dr. Al Shamsi reiterated the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, to empower women and promote their role to be effective partners in the development process.

She also discussed the achievements of the UAE-Japan Friendship Committee, chaired by Sheikha Fatima, and extended thanks to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for their co-operation.

Takagi hailed the wise leadership of the UAE, which is keen to expand ties to achieve the joint objectives and to further co-operation between the two friendly countries.

He also praised the efforts of Sheikha Fatima and her aim to enhance the position of Emirati women, and emphasised Japan's pursuit to find avenues of co-operation between the UAE and Japanese women at levels of entrepreneurship, culture, exchange of experiences and to benefit from the successful experiences witnessed by women in both countries.

The Japanese minister also wished continued progress and welfare to the UAE.
