Container shipping trade in Mideast grows by 5pct


(MENAFN) The container shipping trade saw the strongest growth in the Indian and subcontinent and Mideast regions at 5.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the growth rates witnessed in the region was led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE who contributed to 28 percent and 22 percent respectively in a total year on year increase in imports.

Additionally, the announcement of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Plan in Q2, 2016 aimed to cut Saudi"s dependency on oil.

Currently, the UAE's industry imports have benefited from a consistent strategy based on an intense diversification of the economy and investments in sectors like hospitality.
