CAF to give Peru USD300m loan due to El Nino crisis


(MENAFN) The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) has handled a loan worth USD300 million to Peru in order to reduce the harm caused by El Nino.

Accordingly, the CAF's representative in Peru announced that the El Nino phenomenon has affected Pacific Ocean surface temperatures to increase by about 7 degrees to 29"C.

Furthermore, the Peru's private Macroconsult consultancy posted El Nino has lest damages of at least USD3.1 billion and murdered more than 85 people since December.

The CAF's representative in Peru stated "300 million U.S. dollars are available to face natural disasters and we have told the president that this could be easily handed over, with 50 percent through a rapid payment."
