Mexico's 2016 mezcal exports up 35%


(MENAFN) The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture announced the value of the country's mezcal exports boosted to hit USD26.8 million in the past year.

According to the ministry exports of the alcohol distilled from the agave cactus have increased by over USD7 million.

On the other hand, the ministry data showed the U.S. has directed the list of mezcal importers followed by France, Spain, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Sweden as well as Colombia.

The majority of its growth further came from the U.S., while France appears to be acquiring an increasing taste for the drink.
