China speaks on naval visit to the Philippines


(MENAFN- Asia Times) The Duterte-China love affair continued Thursday with an invitation for a Chinese naval visit to the Philippines, despite accusations that China was installing monitoring stations on the contested Scarborough Shoal.

Channel News Asia reports Friday that the Chinese foreign ministry has confirmed talks with the Philippines regarding a possible Chinese naval visit to the archipelago.

On Thursday, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte invited China to send a battleship to visit, as the two countries' bilateral relationship continues its about-face.
