Transport New app for cab drivers launched by Baxi
Private taxi rental company 'Baxi' will launch a new mobile app on Thursday for disgruntled cab drivers of cab-aggregators like Uber and Ola.
The new app will be launched in Gurugram, New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru.
According to officials, this app will offer fixed fares and will not include surge pricing.
AIIMS In solidarity with the doctors' strike, AIIMS doctors wear helmets
On Wednesday, around 1,200 junior doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) wore black helmets to work.
They did so to show harmony with the doctors on strike in Maharashtra.
The protest is a part of 'Save the Saviours' campaign, an all-India campaign demanding better security at work for doctors working in government hospitals.
Judgement Delhi HC orders action against illegal parking in Greater Kailash-I
Expressing its dislike towards illegal parking in South Delhi's Greater Kailash-I, the Delhi High Court reprimanded the traffic police on Wednesday.
The traffic police was ordered to deploy personnel and act against cars parked unauthorisedly.
The High Court was hearing a petition which sought the removal of commercial establishments from the vicinity.
Photographs submitted by the petitioner displayed cars parked haphazardly on pavements.
Elections Civic polls in Delhi postponed by a day
Delhi State Election Commission postponed the date of the municipal corporation elections by one day to 23rd April, 2017.
The CBSE board examination for Hindi will be held on 22nd April and was thus clashing with the day of voting, when many examination centres are also used as voting centres.
The vote-counting date too, has been changed from 25th April to 26th April.
Gurugram Carriageway at Hero Honda Chowk will open on Saturday
Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said one side of the Hero Honda Chowk flyover (from Manesar to Delhi) will be opened to traffic on Saturday.
The Manesar-Delhi route has more than 1 lakh vehicles passing through it everyday via the Hero Honda chowk.
The work on the flyover began in February 2015.
Ghaziabad Proposal for a signal-free stretch from Delhi to Ghaziabad
The Public Works Department has proposed to make the 6.6-kilometre stretch on Mangal Pandey Marg signal-free for a smooth ride between northeast Delhi and Ghaziabad.
The project visualizes the construction of one underpass and two flyovers over the stretch, which currently has 12 signals.
According to a government official, once completed, 50 minutes of travel time would be cut down between Khajuri-Khaas and Bhopura.
