Berlin, Jumada I 25, 1438, February 22, 2017, SPA -- Greece does not require a debt haircut, but does need
to make further reforms to its tax and pension systems, International
Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde says after a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. Further debt relief should be granted to Greece in the form of interest rate reductions and longer maturities of loans, the IMF head tells German broadcaster ARD, according to dpa.
"The more reforms, the more progress, the more improvement of the economic situation, the less there will have to be in terms of debt restructuring," Lagarde says.
"At the present time, no haircut is needed, but significant cooperation on the maturity and on the interest rates will be needed moving forward," Lagarde says.
