Consumer price inflation in Morocco increases to 2.1%


(MENAFN) The High Planning Authority in Morocco had stated that annual consumer price inflation in Morocco had increased to 2.1% in January comparing to 1.8% posted in December, and this rise is mainly driven by the increase in food and non-food prices.

However, annual food inflation increased to 2.8% from 2.5% the previous month, and non-food inflation increased to 2.6% in the year to January, up from 1.4% in December.

Also, the agency said that communications costs dropped 0.2% while transportation was more expensive by 3.6%.

As consumer price index rose to 0.2% in January, it was 0.1% in December and non-food price inflation rose to 0.4%, up from 0.1%.
