UAE contestants win big in 5th children biennial


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE contestants bagged all the three prizes in the Architecture Design category. The UAE contestants topped the list of the winners of the fifth edition of Sharjah Children Biennial (SCB), which was announced on Thursday.
The biennial had received entries from 1,663 children from around the globe, only 785 of whom qualified to have their artworks exhibited at the Sharjah Art Museum from January 15 - February 15. The results in three categories were announced during the closing ceremony of the biennial, which took place at Mughaider Children's Centre.

The UAE contestants bagged all the three prizes in the Architecture Design category. Shorouq Othman Ali Al Hammadi won the first place, while Aisha Ali Ahmed Mohammed came in second place and Mariam Ali Jaber Ali came third.

In the Fantasy and Reality category, Hind Abdalla Al Mail from the UAE clinched the first place; Mariam Fatima Adeeb Khan from India secured the second place, and Nada Saud Rabee Al Anizy from the UAE came third.

With regards to the group submission in the Environment category, the first place award went to 74 children from the UAE who participated in the workshop 'In the Wilderness'.

The award ceremony was attended by Reem BinKaram who said: "Sharjah Children Biennial has become an important platform in our artistic landscape. The biennial also succeeded in delivering humanitarian messages through art, helping children to express themselves and to provide an insight into their true feelings and aspirations. In today's rapidly-changing world, SCB provided a wonderful window into their dreams and hopes."

This edition provided young visitors with the opportunity to select and vote for their favourite art pieces to win the Children's Choice Award.
