Extremist settlers storm Al-Aqsa mosque complex


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Feb.19 (Petra) -- Groups of extremist Jewish settlers, early Sunday, stormed Jerusalem's flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, according to a Palestinian sources.

General Director of the Islamic Awqaf and al-Aqsa Affairs, sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, said that Israeli troops stormed the Muslims holy shrine entering through the Bab Al-Magharbeh gate under heavy protection of Israeli special police.

In a phone call with Petra's reporter in Ramallah, Al-Khatib said that the settlers provocatively toured the Al-Aqsa yards and performed their Talmudic rituals.

Muslim worshippers inside the mosque, as well as Al-Aqsa guards confronted the settlers, who toured the sacred shrine of Muslims under the protection of the Israeli soldiers, he added.
