Egypt's tourism sector drops to USD3.4bn


(MENAFN) The Central Bank of Egypt stated that revenues from tourism sector have declined from USD11bn in 2011 to USD3.4bn in 2016.

Furthermore, the deficit in the recent account of the balance of payments increased from USD4bn in 2010 to USD20bn in June 2016.

On the other hand, Egyptian exports also fell from USD24bn in 2010 to USD19bn in 2016, while imports grew from USD49bn in 2010 to USD57bn in 2016.

The inflation rates from the late eighties until now changed, as the annual inflation rate grew from 28 percent in 1981 to 26 percent in 1991 to 23pct in 2016.
