Apple Inc. charges Qulacomm for USD1bn


(MENAFN) Apple Inc. fined USD1bn lawsuit against Qulacomm Inc., after the U.S. government accused the chipmaker of restoring to maintain a monopoly over key semiconductors.

Furthermore, Qualcomm is a main supplier to Apple and Samsung Elects Co. for modem chips that link phones to wireless networks, which accounted for 40pct of Qualcomm.

Accordingly, Qualcomm attempted to extort Apple into changing its responses and offering false information to the KFTC in exchange for Qualcomm's payments to Apple.

Additionally, Qualcomm has patents for chips which involve standard essential patents, a term used to describe tech that is needed to be licensed broadly and on reasonable terms.
