(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- From Mega Drop to Tagada, Slingshot to Mini Trooper, amusement rides have been a staple at the Muscat Festival. With 52 thrilling rides at Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens this year, organisers said there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Mohammed Irfan, accounts manager, Seerabeece for Exhibition and International Festivals, the company that is managing the rides at both Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens said that the choice this year is varied. 'We have a mix of last year's rides and some new additions as well. We have retained some of the rides that were popular with children last year.'
Irfan added that the company is banking on weekends for the business to take off. 'The business was good at both venues last year. We are banking on the weekend crowd to make the most of it.'
The rides are priced between RO1 and RO5. Explaining about some of the new rides to check out this year, Irfan said, 'A new ride we have this year is the Amor Express. This ride moves in a circle making you feel that you will hit against the other person or fall off the track. The spinning movement is what is thrilling.'
A spooky ride to watch out for is the Ghost Train. The train takes riders through the Dracula's den. Another new addition is the Pony Express. The rider straddles the seat creating a feeling that he or she is riding on a horse.
'You feel like you are riding a horse as the ride surges ahead on a track,' Irfan said. The ride which has made a comeback on popular demand is Mega Drop. The riders experience free-fall initially followed by rapid deceleration.
'A lot of visitors approached us last year saying that they want Mega Drop back at the fair. In this, riders are lifted to the top of a large vertical structure, and then released.'
The Crazy Beach Party sends riders spinning rapidly on a huge disc while swinging back and forth like a pendulum to a height of 90°. Some of the other major attractions include the Flying Carpet, Mini Trooper, Tea Cups, Super Jet, Bumper Cars, Flavio Slide, Swinger (small), Helicopter, Bumper Car (small), Bumper Boat and Inflatables. The company is also managing fireworks at both venues. 'We have added some new element to this year's shows,' said Irfan.
