Best view of Mercury in Qatar tomorrow

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The planet Mercury can be best viewed above Doha tomorrow at 4.42am about one hour and 40 minutes before sunrise, according to astronomers. Astrophiles in Doha will have the best view of Mercury early morning tomorrow when it reaches its greatest western elongation of 24.1 degrees from the Sun.

'This is the best time to view Mercury since it will be at its highest point above the horizon in the morning sky. Look for the planet low at the eastern horizon just before sunrise. A much fainter Saturn will be west of Mercury, said a statement issued yesterday by Dr Beshir Marzouk and Dr Mohammed Al Ansari of Qatar Calendar House.

It is hard to directly observe Mercury from Earth except during greatest elongation days because Mercury is so close to the sun.

As the first planet from the Sun, Mercury goes around the Sun the fastest of all the planets. It has no moon and the temperature on its surface can reach 430 degrees Celsius.
