The main reasons for the demand for healthcare are the rise in the region's ageing population, increase in lifestyle risk factors and the growing of non-communicable diseases.
Recently, the spending on healthcare has grown over the last years; the level of expenditure is still low when compared to different indicators is made with global community.
Moreover, amid the GCC nations, Bahrain has the highest healthcare expenditure as a percentage of GDP of 5 percent for 2014, while Qatar's spending to GDP was 2.1 percent.
