Exit Permit Grievances Committee formed in Qatar


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Ministry of Interior has set up a new committee to look into the grievances of expatriates on exit permits.
At a press conference Ministry officials announced that the new committee named 'Exit Permit Grievances Committee' will look into the grievances of expatriates on exit permit in case employer not allowing him to leave the country.
The committee will start work on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at its office located in North Madina Khalif old Traffic office.
Expats can approach the committee if his employer is not allowing him to leave the country for vacation or in emergency.
The committee will make a decision within 3 working days of receiving the complaint and it will work from Sunday to Thursday.
The expatriate can appeal the decision of the Committee within 24 hours to Minister of Interior, if his request is rejected.
At the initial stage, the grievance shall be submitted manually using prescribed form. Later electronic system will be introduced.
Brig. Salem Al Meraikhi, Director of Legal Affairs at MOI, chairs the committee with members from Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Administrative Development Labor & Social Affairs (MADLSA) and Qatar National Human Rights Committee (QNHRC).
Press conference was attended by members of the committee Salih Rashed Al-Kuwari from MADLSA, Naif Misbah Al-Shammari from QNHRC.
Major Mohammed Al Kubaisi from Human Rights Department at Ministry of Interior and member of the committee also attended the meeting.
